The Healing

Privacy policy

Effective November 8, 2026. This policy covers The Healing app for iPhone and Apple TV.

The short version

Who we are

The Healing is a wellness and community app for men, run by The Healing (thehealingchi.org). When this policy says "we" or "us", it means The Healing. Questions about this policy go to cortezblack.dev@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your account. Your name, email address, date of birth and city. If you sign in with Apple, we store the account identifier Apple gives us. If you use a password, we store only a salted hash of it.

What you tell us when you join. The programs, goals and wellness level you choose, and your first intention.

Your profile. An optional photo, bio and social links, and whether other members can see your profile.

Check-ins and practice. When you check in, we store the feeling you pick and how strong it is, so the app can show your patterns over time. Anything you write about what is behind it is encrypted on your phone first. We also store the breath, sit and movement sessions you finish, your streak and your readiness scores.

Private writing. Journal entries, weekly reflections, direct messages, group chats and Heal Hours applications are encrypted on your device before upload. We store only the encrypted text, which our team cannot read.

What you share with the community. Posts, replies, photos and videos you post, lifts and saves, groups you create or join, and photos you add to event galleries. These are visible to other members, as described below.

Events. Your RSVPs, check-ins and the feedback you leave after an event.

Live practice and spaces. While you are in a breath, sit or wind-down practice, we note the practice name and your city so other members can see how many people are practicing. This record is removed within a few minutes of the practice ending. When you nod to a brother, we store that nod.

Usage and diagnostics. Which screens and actions are used, an install identifier and the app version, plus crash and performance reports from your iPhone. We use this to fix problems and improve the app. It stays with us and is never used for advertising.

Notifications. If you turn notifications on, we store your device's push token.

What stays on your phone

Who can see what

Services we use

We use a small number of providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us.

Retreat registration and payments happen on our website, not in the app, and are covered by the terms shown there.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. Live practice records disappear within minutes. When you delete your account, your information is removed as described below.

Deleting your account

Go to Profile, then Settings, then Delete everything. This permanently deletes your account, sign-in sessions, check-ins, journal and reflections, messages, Heal Hours applications, posts, replies, photos, event history, connections, group memberships and practice activity. Groups you started stay up for their other members, and someone else becomes host. You can also email cortezblack.dev@gmail.com and we will delete it for you.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit. Private writing is end-to-end encrypted, so it is unreadable without keys held on your devices. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.

Age

The Healing is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a younger person has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
